Recently transplanted to Fort Lauderdale, Artist and Art Therapist Ana Nicodemo was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil in 1961. Ana received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree by UEMG (Escola Guignard) in 2002. Additionally, she pursued a specialization in Anthroposophy by the Brazilian Association of Anthroposophy from 2013 until 2014. And in 2015, a Post-Graduate Degree in Art Therapy from FAVI – Integrarte in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

Ana Nicodemo has a vast experience teaching children and young adults in many sectors. From 1991 to 1999 she worked with the City of Belo Horizonte in Art Projects alongside with artists and professors of Guignard School of Arts. In 2000 she was invited to be the Art Educator for the Guanabara Project at the renowned Ayrton Senna Institute for 4 years. After many years of work in Brazil, she decided to move abroad to Italy where her parents are from and spent the next 5 years expanding her studies in the south of Italy and in London. Family and roots brought her back to Brazil in 2010 where she started a new project at the Curandar Clinic as an Art Therapist helping kids with autism for the next 8 years. Finally, before moving to Florida, she spent 3 years at Espaço Nardim again as an Art Therapist with the focus on kids with autism and down syndrome.

Ana is skilled in several different mediums and art forms which include art with recycled CDs, Vinyl Records, Acrylic Paintings and Sculptures. You can find her art in numerous private collections and businesses around the world like the US, England, Italy, Brazil and Canada.

ARTIST STATEMENT

“I am an artist at heart. My artwork usually focusses on recycled materials like CDs, Vinyl Records but is also diversified with traditional mediums like acrylic painting in canvas.

Every painting I design is an original/one of a kind piece. However, several of them have a mandala theme with a lot of intricate details.

Additionally, the wooden dove sculptures are a personal interpretation of the traditional holy spirit image. The dove represents peace and the backgrounds are meant to shine the light that my work try to express.”
